Ezoic and our partners may place third-party cookies, tags, beacons, pixels, and similar technologies to monitor interactions with advertisements and optimize ad targeting. The Simple Version: We collect only the information we need to help you with recipes and meal planning. We never sell your personal information, and we’re totally transparent about what we do with your data. If you have questions, just email us – we’re real people who actually respond!

Look, we get it – nobody loves reading privacy policies. But since we’re asking for your trust with your family’s meal planning (and sometimes your email address), we want to be completely upfront about how we handle your information. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and what we do with it.

1. Information We Collect

Information You Give Us Directly:

  • Email addresses when you sign up for our newsletter or contact us
  • Names if you choose to share them (first names are totally fine!)
  • Recipe feedback and comments when you share your cooking experiences
  • Meal planning preferences if you use our meal planning tools
  • Dietary restrictions or preferences when you tell us about them
  • Photos and stories when you share your cooking successes (or disasters!)

Information We Collect Automatically:

  • Website usage data like which recipes you view most often
  • Device information (mobile vs. desktop, browser type)
  • Location data (general location like city/state, not your exact address)
  • How you found us (Google search, social media, friend referral)

2. How We Use Your Information

Here’s exactly what we do with your information – no hidden agenda:

  • Send you recipes and meal planning tips you actually signed up for
  • Remember your dietary preferences so we can suggest relevant recipes
  • Respond to your questions about recipes, cooking techniques, or meal planning
  • Improve our recipes based on your feedback and what’s popular
  • Make our website work better by understanding how people use it
  • Prevent spam and keep things secure for everyone

What We DON’T Do: We never sell your email addresses or personal information to third parties. We don’t spam you with irrelevant stuff. We don’t share your personal cooking disasters with anyone (unless you specifically say it’s okay to feature your story!). We don’t send you stuff you didn’t ask for.

3. Data Protection & Security

We take protecting your information seriously. Here’s how we keep your data safe:

  • Secure servers with encryption for all data transmission
  • Limited access – only Claire and Linda can access personal information
  • Regular security updates on all our systems
  • Secure email practices for all communications
  • Regular data backups stored securely

That said, no internet transmission is 100% secure. While we do everything possible to protect your information, we can’t guarantee absolute security. If we ever have a security issue, we’ll notify you immediately.

4. Your Rights (GDPR & CCPA Compliant)

You have complete control over your personal information. Here’s what you can do:

Correct Your Information:

Delete Your Data:

Want us to delete all your personal information? No problem. Email us and we’ll remove everything except what we’re legally required to keep (like records of purchases for tax purposes). This usually takes 24-48 hours.

Stop Communications:

There’s an unsubscribe link in every email we send, or you can just email us directly. We’ll remove you from all communications within 24 hours.

Data Portability:

Want to take your data somewhere else? We’ll provide you with all your information in a standard format that you can use elsewhere.

5. Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies (the digital kind, not the delicious kind) to make our website work better for you:

Essential Cookies:

  • Login information so you don’t have to sign in every time
  • Recipe preferences to remember your dietary restrictions
  • Shopping cart contents if we add an online store later

Analytics Cookies:

  • Google Analytics to understand which recipes are most popular
  • Website performance to make pages load faster
  • User experience improvements based on how people navigate the site

Marketing Cookies:

  • Social media integration for sharing recipes
  • Email optimization to send you content you’re most likely to enjoy

You can control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking certain cookies might affect some website functionality, but you can still access all our recipes!

6. Third-Party Services

We work with a few trusted partners to provide better service:

Email Service (ConvertKit):

We use ConvertKit to manage our email list and send newsletters. They follow strict privacy standards and only use your data to send the emails you requested. View ConvertKit’s Privacy Policy

Analytics (Google Analytics):

Google Analytics helps us understand website usage without identifying individual users. We’ve configured it to anonymize IP addresses and respect Do Not Track requests. View Google’s Privacy Policy

Social Media Integration:

We use social sharing buttons for Pinterest, Instagram, and Facebook. These may place cookies, but only if you interact with them. We don’t automatically share your activity on social media.

Recipe Card Technology:

Our recipe cards use structured data to help search engines understand our content better. This doesn’t involve any personal information – just recipe ingredients and instructions.

7. Children’s Privacy

EdenPlate is designed for adults planning family meals. We don’t knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you’re under 18, please have a parent or guardian review this privacy policy with you before using our site.

If we learn that we’ve collected personal information from a child under 13, we’ll delete it immediately. Parents, if you believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us right away.

8. International Users

We’re based in the United States (Claire in North Carolina, Linda in South Carolina), but we welcome visitors from around the world! If you’re outside the US:

  • Your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States
  • We comply with GDPR requirements for European visitors
  • We provide the same privacy protections to all users regardless of location
  • You have the same data rights described above

9. Changes to This Policy

We’ll update this privacy policy if we make significant changes to how we handle your information. When we do:

  • We’ll email active subscribers about important changes
  • We’ll post the updated policy on our website with a new “last updated” date
  • We’ll explain what changed in plain English
  • We’ll give you time to review changes before they take effect

Minor updates (like fixing typos or clarifying existing practices) won’t trigger notifications, but we’ll always update the “last modified” date.
